Comment: Believe it or not, this is only Don Bluth's SECOND worst movie. A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK is even worse.

Comment: Walt Disney was not an animator...
I swear... Jacamo is Henri from "An American Tale" ...French pigeon-like bird that sings about doing the impossible/never giving up... it's HENRI!!! He's been brainwashed and turned into a clown for some reason...
Apparantly getting slapped hard on the behind with a STICK doesn't hurt her... I think that would hurt a LOT! (And I don't mean emotionally)
There are a few real problems here:
1. Thumbelina's personality
2. She's not supposed to meet the swallow until she finds him hurt in the tunnel.
3. Having all these animals attracted to her is weird... though granted that is in the original story...
No... I think "The Troll in Central Park" is Don's worst movie... this is the second worst...
It's true... the animation is very nice in this movie...
I think the script would have been better if it had stuck closer to the source material. That would have elimated the main plot holes.

Comment: In my opinion, this movie deserved its Razzie for that song. IT WAS SO AWFUL!!! Plus, Barry Manilow's songwriting skills in "The Pebble and the Penguin" were an upgrade compared to this. By the way, you forgot to mention that the Mole was voiced by John Hurt, from movies and TV shows like "Watership Down", "Alien" (he gets killed by the famous chestburster), "The Lord of the Rings" (Ralph Bakshi version), "The Black Cauldron" and "Jim Henson's The StoryTeller". P.S. Gilbert Gottfried RULEZ!

Comment: I used to like this movie as a kid, but after seeing it again, I really don't like it. I found Jaquimo very annoying. But I still like the three songs "Let Me Be Your Wings," "Soon (Thumbelina's Song," and "Sun."
As for your question about what was up with female characters having big cleveleges in the 90's, Lola Bunny didn't have enormous breasts like the other women you mentioned.
And that quote "a video promotion to bestiality"?
I hate to break it you but that's what happened in the original book of "Thumbelina." But the toad, the beetle, and the mole didn't know that she was a human because she was too small to a regular human. And they only focused on her looks and size, not what speices she was.

Comment: I remember enjoying this movie as a child.
Even know, I don't know what all the fuss is about. So it wasn't a great movie. Is really worth all this raving and ranting?
Looking at it now, I still don't mind it.

Comment: The biggest problem with this film was probebly that everything is one big climax.
Yes, this is Don Bluth´s worst movie!

Comment: I for one like this movie and consider all of Bluth's 90's films underrated (Cept for Anastasia because that one was actually majorly successful but I think that had more to do with the fact that most people didn't know he made it) but I must admit, I do not like his version of Thumbelina. She was the one thing wrong with this movie. She's always struggling to stand up straight and she's a hypocrite. She's easily manipulated as every time one of the random villains/heroes starts singing, she just joins in and agrees with what they say. It's like this:
Character: Don't marry the prince! You won't be happy that way!
Thumbelina: I don't know. I do love him...
Character: *Singing* The prince is a dork...
Thumbelina: *Joins in* I do not love the prince...
See? That can get very annoying very fast. Everything else I feel makes up for it to some extent. (Even if the story does admittedly feel rushed near the end) I thought it was pretty cool how the seasons changed over the course of a day even if it makes no sense.
The only reason so many people hate Marry the Mole was because it gets across a bad message if listened to on its own, however, if you pay close attention to the lyrics, you'll notice it's technically a villain song. I know, strange, isn't it?

Comment: @Sarah:) - OK, she's a strawberry blonde. Whatever, she's still a poorly-done Ariel copy in the other three ways I mentioned.

Comment: huh. I never really saw anything wrong with this movie. When I first saw it when I was 8, I loved it. I just saw the movie before I saw this and I still liked it. I guess thats just me: anything by disney/don bluth is an instant win. BTW, Thumbelina is blond. What did you expect!?LOL

Comment: Hi, it's me again. DAMN, Jodi Benson has such a pretty voice, even though she has a habit for voicing rather idiotic heroines! And I just realized that the actor who voices Ariel's father King Triton in The Little Mermaid also voices Prince Cornelius' father in this movie. So not only do we have the voice of a Disney princess and an annoying Disney parrot, we have the voice of a Disney king. Come on, Don Bluth people, are you fucking KIDDING me? And I also just realized that the name of the Hispanic toads' act, Los Sapos Guapos, literally means "the Handsome Toads" in Spanish.

Comment: I haven't seen this movie since I was about eight, and I've noticed some things I didn't before, like: holy crap, it's Charo! PS, any coincidence that both Ariel and Thumbelina: a. have the same voice actress, b. want to be something they're not, c. fall in love with the first guy they see, and d. have red hair? And I must disagree, dude, Gilbert Gottfried has one of the most ANNOYING voices EVER! And I don't give a shit what the Razzy awards say; I thought "Marry the Mole" was catchy!
