Comment: Wasn't 'Crystal Caves' a name of a level in Donkey Kong 64? I wonder if that the name is a coincidence or something. That said, I never played this Crystal Caves DOS game, although it's always nice to discover more games from both the past and the present eras. Since I'm a little bit of a nut for video game history, myself.

Comment: I must know, have you heard of the MegaMan DOS games, they really suck compared to the NES versions.

Comment: @Mr. Coat-Yeah I've noticed that older games are WAY more fun than newer games. You woldn't believe how much fun I had playing Ristar on SEGA MegaDrive collection! More fun than new Sonic games. Mario All-Stars was good, I LOVE Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3!

Comment: I know this is off topic Mr Coat but don't you agree that graphics in games really don't matter?! Crystal Caves (and other games like M.U.L.E, Mario Bros, Rocket Knight Adventures ect)didn't have awesome mind-blowing graphics like today. This game came from the time when graphics didn't matter! It was about the fun factor and soundtrack! I mentioned this when reviewing Rocket Knight Adventures and I personally feel that gamers (young ones at least) seem to think it's all graphics but no! Videogame reviewers even say the same things!
Mr. Coat: Yeah, I would agree with that. As long as the game is fun and playable, that is what matters to me. After all, Pac-Man is one of my favourite video games of all-time and though the graphics seem limited today, it has not aged one bit since 1980. :-)Name: ClassicKid

Comment: Quick question, was this game released on the Amstrad or Commondore 64 because I'm studying retro consoles like these. Did you play and titles such as Mercenary and M.U.L.E. along with this?

Then could you please just tell me the name of the cartoon you did a "short showcase" for that involved a diner where creepy things happen to people? Because I'd like to find and watch that cartton (in its entirty without commentary, that is) but found out "Dinnertime" is the name of a completely different Paul Terry cartoon and I can't remember the name of the one I'd like to watch. I think during the commentary for the one I'm talking about, you said something like "anyone who's seen a lone diner in the middle of nowhere can see that it has an eerie feeling". Do you remember the one I'm talking about? It frusturates me that I'd really like to see that cartoon and can't remember what it's called.

Comment: Entertaining and informative as always, Mr. Coat! By the way, what happened to your "Short Showcase" videos (like the ones for Three Little Pigs, Duck Dodgers, Prince Cinders, Dinnertime, etc)? I can't seem to find them on the site anymore.

Comment: Great show, Mr. Coat! I never played this game in particular, but I remember this grand era in early PC gaming well. This was a time when you had to buy a Soundblaster card separate from your PC if you wanted to get the games sounding JUST right.Say, maybe you could do an episode on "Star Control 2" in the future. Apogee is still open for business? Wow.

Comment: Do you think you could do a video on "3D Monster Maze" for the Sinclair ZX81? If you've never heard of it before, it was one of the first 3D first-person perspective video games for a home computer.

Comment: OH MY GAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWD! I've been trying to figure out what that game was all my life. I was horrible at it. I could never get passed the few set of levels. It would never want to save my game. I assumed it an early Duke Nukem game or something, but finally you show me what the title was. Glad to know I can now download it legally.

Comment: I grew up with only the first Crystal Caves and it was played all the time. We had a couple of nicknames for the monsters like Godzilla, Evil R2-D2's, pink snakes, bowling balls, Triceratops', vultures, walkers etc. etc. My favorite level was the one where these pink snakes look like they are all on top of a huge giant cake. When I was littler that level was called the "snake cake".
