Brian Helgeland both won Worst Screenplay at the Golden Raspberries with Eric Roth on The Postman which killed Kevin Costner's career and winning Best Adapted Screenplay with Curtis Hanson for L.A. Confidential. 2008 was the year where non-american actors win all acting categories.

Comment: you forgot to mention that "Waltz with Bashir" become the firts animated film to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2008. Still nice lookback thought.

Comment: This was a great lookback at the history of the Oscars. The earliest memory I have of the Oscars is actually when John Lasseter accepted his Special Achievement Oscar and left his Woody and Buzz toys on the podium only to have them GET UP moments after he left. Of course it was fake, but it was still awesome. The past 10 years of the Oscars have really hit and miss and I look forward to the Oscars this year!
