Comment: Unless you've never seen any of Alfred Hitchcock's films I see no reason whatsoever to not put him on the list. Seriously, what stopped you from adding the cinematic genius behind classics like Rear Window, The Birds, Psycho, Vertigo, North By Northwest, and so on.
Mr. Coat: Yeah, I want to see more Hitchcock, but I have liked what I've seen. In addition to those you mentioned, I have also watched Rebecca, Suspicion, Shadow of a Doubt, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Stage Fright and Strangers on a Train.Name: Sara

Comment: #13) Yeah. I really loved WALL-E, and it's too bad it didn't get a Best Picture Oscar nomination. Oh well. I can't wait to see that John Carter of Mars movie too. #9) Ah yes. Mel Brooks. I LOVE SPACEBALLS! It's one of my favorite movies! #8) As for Chuck Jones, I really like his style of drawing and character design. So distnctive. You also forgot to mention that he directed a feature-length animated film for MGM in 1970 called "The Phantom Tollbooth". It's pretty good, if you don't mind terrible musical numbers. #3) How can one go wrong with Steven Speilberg? #2) Stanley Kubrick's 2001 is one of my favorites!

Comment: Stanton - also my favourite of the Pixar team.
Tarantino - my second-favourite.
Fincher - I must be honest: I fast-forwarded through that part.
Brooks - good from what I've seen.
Miyazaki - see Brooks, though I thought Spirited Away was overlong by about 30 minutes, and Grave of the Fireflies will always easily be Ghibli's crowing achievement for me.
Allen - see Fincher (and no, that's not just because of the 1978 Oscars... that wasn't his fault anyway).
Coens - pretty good, but I definitely haven't liked all their works I've seen.
Scorsese - my third-favourite.
Spielberg - GOD.
Kubrick - VERY hit-and-miss for me.
I've seen nothing from Fellini, Jones and Chaplin

Comment: Good job. I'm surprised to see Chaplin at the top, but he WAS a director. Thanks for showing off my favorite scene from "The Gold Rush." Somehow those two loaves of bread made up some of the funniest dance choreography of all time.

Comment: @Steph- From what I've heard, Lucas himself isn't actually that good of a director and the only reason he's successful is because he has Spielberg backing him up.
