Comment: (Yeah, yeah, waited way too long to say this) How is subtlety boring? I'm serious. It almost sounds like your only reason for calling Mulan that is because it's not flat-out obvious with its messages and isn't afraid to have a number of quiet moments to set up a mood without having to tell us what's going on. (Something Disney rarely does) And come on, give Mulan some credit: she's probably the only lead Disney female who ever chooses her own destiny instead of having some kind of magic push her in the right direction. I can respect you not liking the film all that much, but it just sounds like you're looking at it the wrong way.
The other films I cannot argue with. I actually fully agree with you on those. (Though I don't think Hercules is bad, just okay)

Comment: These movies were all kinda meh... I like Mulan, except for the craziness w/ the huns surviving A FREAKING AVALANCHE!!!
Hercules deserves an award for mythological inaccuracy...
Prince of Egypt has the weird message that... God is a Jerk? I prefer Joseph, which has a nice message about forgiveness.
Tarzan... okay... they made some weird changes though... ironic that the villain is named Clayton... and gorillas as opposed to the "Anthropoid Apes"... well... the music was kinda good...
You know I think what happened here is Disney made a string of bad choices regarding stories to adapt...
Hercules, Notre Dame, Tarzan... originally all quite dark...
I like Fantasia 2000, and I'm glad they made it... I'd like to see more Fantasia-like things... however... it just isn't as good as the original... I think the best parts are "The Firebird" the opening one w/ the butterflies... and the Gershwin one... the weakest one I think is the whale one... it's boring... (I took animation from a semi-reknowned animator who got ripped off by this... he had earlier done a well known animation of whales jumping through starlight... and his is much better, too)

Comment: Now, I loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules. They were my childhood favorites. I've watched Tarzan a while ago and I enjoyed it more than the Squeakquel. As for Mulan, I remember one of it's songs a long time ago and I loved it. As for Fantasia 2000, I'll give it a shot.

Comment: I disagree with you on Mulan. It's one of my favorite Disney movies and it's music is definitely one of the best. How can you not like "Be a Man?" That's the manliest song in all of Disney!
Plus Mulan is also my favorite Disney Princess (technically she is added as part of the franchise). She;s brave, kicks butt and makes up for her lack of spunk with awesome fighting moves and intellect. She took down the Hun army with an avalanche and survived! How many Disney princesses pull off an awesome stunt like that?

Comment: I hate Mulan and Hercules, why because Mulan just feels like it LACKS that magic touch that disney has as well as hercules. But on the bright side, Tarzan was REALLY GOOD, Hunchback of notre dame was also good, in fact Frollo is one of disney's best villains. I haven't seen fantasia 2000 yet, but I will see it once it is on Blu-ray and Dvd and P.S. I'm chinese and I HATE Mulan.

Comment: I am gald you like The Hunchback of Norte Dame as much as i do.I also think that Hellfire is the greatest villian song ever made. I also say this film is up there with all the great disney classics and one of disney's best, even if the gargoyles are not best charecters in the film

Comment: "making Quasi likeable"? That's not the ONLY major change they made, they actually had to MAKE a villain out of Frollo, instead of just a vain priest and they had to make Phoebus a nice character instead of the vain douchebag he was in the story. And I always thought Phill Collins' songs were awesome for Tarzan, but maybe that's because I had that soundtrack on tape and listened to it all the time :/

Comment: Mulan is actuly a mutch more evolved carachter than Jasmin(witch dont have any personality at all). The Only Disney movie that feels like two hour is Poccahontas and Cinderella.
The Gargoyles should be on your Top 11 annoying nostaligik carachters becose they destroy the movie.
PS:Hercules was very popular here in sweden.

Comment: To Gabe: Mark Henn may have animated both characters, but the dismal writing didn't help much in making the character more interesting. And I would have no problem with Hunchback being rated PG. If a perfectly innocent Disney film like Lilo & Stitch can get a PG rating, then I don't see how a film that deals with so many adult themes up-front couldn't have.

Comment: I thought Mulan was really good, it had originality to it. She wasn't some perfect enfeminate slut, she was a slightly masculine, hard working girl that didn't give a damn about some prince. Prince of Egypt was extremely well done, but is highly biblicly inacurate! Tarzan was good, the animation is excellent, but it lacks a ceratain touch!

Comment: While I do agree that Mulan is average, I don't agree that none of the songs are memorable. "Reflection" and "Make a Man Out of You" are very well remembered by many people.
