Comment: @ Annie. Actually, John Lasseter said that "Newt" was cancelled simply because the plot was way too similar to "Rio".

Comment: Poor Terry...
I REALLY WANT TO SEE ANOTHER FANTASIA FILM!!! DESTINO IS AWESOME!!! (Saw it at the Dali exhibit at LACMA a few years ago)
I am very curious to see "The Sweatbox"... it's too bad Disney is so image crazy... and after all... they put that whole long documentary about Walt (including some quite bad business practices) on the Cinderella DVD, so you'd think they'd have gotten past viewing themselves as totally beneficent... my opinion is that if they released it the only people interested already know/don't care that much that Disney has a bit of a "dark side"... kids aren't gonna want to watch this thing... so... I don't know...

Comment: Judging from your comments on Red State, it seems that your still keeping tabs on Kevin Smith. That's cool. Some many people online (particularly on the TGWTG forums) seem to view Smith as a washed up hack, when I can't help but feel contrary when I regularly read the News Askew website.
Oh, I don't think Smith was ever particularly serious about making Dogma 2 beside the basic idea, though I could be wrong. More substantial unrealized film projects from Smith would include a Fletch sequel with Jason Lee in the lead role, a Green Hornet movie (Smith even managed to adapt his script into a ten-issue comic book series published recently by Dynamite Entertainment, interestingly enough) and the Clerks: Sell Out animated DTV feature.
And when they were making Mallrats, Universal was so enthusiastic about the film, they asked Smith to come up with an idea for a sequel. Smith (half-jokingly, I assume) came up with the title "Mallrats 2: Die Hard In a Mall". When Mallrats flopped at the box office, the sequel obviously never saw the light of day. A few years later, when Smith began his career in the comic book industry and was doing Clerks and Jay & Silent Bob stories published by Oni Press, he announced that he would make Mallrats 2: Die Hard in a Mall as a comic book. A few months ago, he said that Mallrats 2 the comic wasn't going to be made, but that the Dogma prequel detailing the backstory of Bartleby & Loki that he had announced way back when is still a possibility.

Comment: It's such a pity to not include "The Thief and the Cobbler" in this countdown. And YES, that movie was *finished* (and I use this term very loosely) by Miramax, the same company that screwed up the Tom and Jerry movie and Roberto Benigni's Pinnochio. Let us never speak of it again.

Comment: I would've loved to see "Kingdom of the Sun" and "Fraidy Cat" doesn't sound half bad. I love "The Little Match Girl" segment too. Also with "Night Skies," it sounds like one movie was divided into many famous ones, which is pretty amazing. One thing I would've added to this list is the live-action "6teen" movie. I heard about it back in 2008 and expected it to be out around this time, but since I haven't heard anything since, it looks like they scrapped it. Oh well.

Comment: I saw a list like this not too long ago on Cracked.com. It was called "The 20 Greatest Movies Hollywood Ever Killed," or something of that nature. I was initially afraid that this would mention some of the same movies, but It's good to see a fresh list from the ground up. And you're right, Stefan, a lot of these projects do look like they had Great potential. I'd like to see "Fraidy Cat."

Comment: Nice video, of course "Kingdom of the Sun" has to be on there, having been mentioned twice in the earlier videos on the site. I don't think I've ever heard of "Fraidy Cat" until this video. "Tramp's New World" sounds strange to me, the idea of the Tramp living in a post-apocalyptic New York kind of sounds like a light hearted version of "The Road".
Fun factoid; I've never seen "Lorenzo", as much as I want to. I heard back in 2004 that it was going to be attached to "Raising Helen", so I went to see it just for that short, and what did I get? Nothing but an utterly forgettable Kate Hudson comedy.

Comment: I think you should've put the prequal to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "Who Discovered Roger Rabbit," as an honorable mention. Then again, I did here that it's back in production and will be released in 2012.

Comment: Didn't know there was going to be a Dogma 2. I can understand Kevin Smith wanting to protect his family by not making it. Same goes for South Park wanting to censor certain refrences.
There making a Discworld movie? I thought that was a PC game, didn't it was a book. It had one sweet song about death.

Also, it really sucks to be Terry Gilliam. Having all these movies to get screwed up

Comment: These were really good finds, Fraidy Cat would have been so so cool. So so so so cool. So so so so so so so so cool. Okay, you get the point. Fantasia 2006 however I think would have been a flop, not that it was a bad idea but with the way Disney was at the time I wouldn't trust their marketing for it. Tramp's New World, you know what, I'm not sure Charles Chaplain would dare bring the Tramp back in the late 1940's for a good reason, not only did Hitler have a similar mustache but that mustache contributed to why he thought "The Great Dictator" was a great idea but was later embarrassed by it, so I don't blame him for passing on it.

Comment: Actually, "Night Skies" was brought to life in the late '80s. Steven Herek gave us Critters. The idea of mini-hedgehog aliens that terrorize a farming family is there. The only difference is that a subplot about a group of alien bounty hunters is included and the movie goes for a comical tone but still manages to be horryifing.

Comment: In my opinion, the completed version of "The Thief and the Cobbler" does NOT exist! So to me, that qualifies as unfinished. Great list you put on there, but I think you left something out "Creation". To be produced by RKO, this ambitious production was supposed to be the magnum opus of stop-motion pioneer Willis O'Brien after the success of "The Lost World". In 1931, he made 20 minutes of test footage, though only 4 minutes of it survives today. Though ultimately never made, many key scenes in "Creation" were put into the classic "King Kong". All the dinosaur models made for "Creation" were also put in "King Kong".On the 2-disc DVD of "King Kong", you can find the test footage (with commentary by Ray Harryhausen) and a presentation of the film with narration of the script, sketches, concept art, and production stills to get an idea of what "Creation" would have been like if made at all. Also, I think you should have mentioned Ray Harryhausen's "Evolution" project.
