Comment: @Ken- Really? Dragon Ball's the ONLY one? Okay, I guess Adult Swim doesn't exist then. And yeah, fellow, I get the feeling your dislike of DB comes from the fact that you might have watched the wrong series first. You're better off trying the original DB back when Goku was a kid and the plots weren't too overly-stretched-out.

Comment: Mr. Coat, I agree with you about some the films. Dragonball Evolution was an anime and they turned it into a live-action film. I just hope they never make live-action adaptations of other anime, such as Inuyasha or Ranma 1/2.

Comment: You ever consider doing a lookback on Avatar: The Last Airbender? Considering it's popularity and the fact that it's one of the few children's animated series to have a plot that spans the entire series, has a planned ending, and has characters die on-screen, I think it'd be worth doing. And, of course, this is also a more mature "children's" shows, especially in the final season, dealing with revenge, among other things. I mean, how many other cartoons involve two genocides, one of which was successful, and the other of which, was not?

Comment: I totally understand how you feel about Thunderbirds. I've never seen the series or the movie, but I know how it feels to have a cash-grab rape a beloved movie/TV show from your childhood. For me that would be the abominable made-for-TV movie Home Alone 4. Everything was wrong, wrong, wrong. The casting was horrible, the slapstick was lame, the script was terrible, and it's completely inconsistent with the first two films. I despise it immensely.

Comment: Richie Rich, Josie and the Pussycats, Fat Albert, Denace the Menace, Ben 10: Race Against Time/Alien Swarm, The Last Airbender. Maybe give these a look and then do a part 2 to this? Also they made a sequal to Mr. Magoo called Kung Fu Magoo. KUNG FU MAGOO!!! God, just the sound of it makes it sound like a big steaming pile of crap!

Comment: I agree with your opinions on Rocky and Bullwinkle, Flintstones (rather rewatch the first one and thank god the prequel became a finacial flop), Garfield, Inspector Gadget, Thunderbirds (The song "Thunderbirds Are Go" by Busted is one of the worst Number One chart hits...in the UK where the series originated!), Underdog, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Dragon Ball Evolution (You can watch every season including Dragon Ball Kai at http://dbzepisode.com), Casper (I love the first one but the prequel and sequel are better off dead), The Last Airbender(which won 5 Golden Raspberries including Worst Picture). But I disagree with Scooby Doo (I rather see the first one instead of the sequel), Transformers (can't wait for the 3rd one), TMNT (the third one is a joke and got way too close with the cartoon series). Good thing you didn't see Marmaduke which as you would of guessed it's awful.

Comment: I unfortunately watched "Casper: A Spirited Beginning" as a kid and remembered most of it before watching it again for a failed review series pilot I did. I agree, it's wretched. I don't remember much out of "George of the Jungle" and "Inspector Gadget", and I thankfully ignored "Thunderbirds" in favor for "Team America" (which came out the same year and I'm saving my Thunder-experiences for episodes of the show and it's movies.) Out of all the movies that you shown, I liked "Casper", the first of the live-action "Turtles" movies, "Rocky and Bullwinkle", and "Speed Racer". "The Flintstones" I don't really like, but I do agree that it's more worth viewing that the later "Viva Rock Vegas" prequel and I think has more respect for it's source material than most of the more recent cartoon adaptations. I'm interested in viewing "Popeye" soon.

Comment: I agree with JIM. I'm surprised that you didn't mentioned the live-action "Fat Albert" movie. So here's my personal opinion about the movie: The characters were out of the character from their 70 counter-parts, the movie character were bland, the story fades away into a Cinderella/ET/Snow White cliche-que, the message is confusing, it's a waste of Bruce Smith's animation, and the dialouge makes Sabun sound like Shakespear. The only good parts of the movie were the custom designs of the Fat Albert gang, the scean with Fat Albert (Keanen Thompson) with Bill Cosby, and the sad cemetary scean at the end. It wasn't a good movie, but it could've been a whole lot worse.

Comment: I know exactly how felt with those movies. But I do have to say out of all the cartoon/animated TV series movies The Last Airbender peeved me off the most. It is worse then Chipmunks and Thunderbirds and any other bad carton movies combined. They took a fantastic animated series sucked out comedy, character development, care for the characters and almost everything else ,except the visuals and special effects which were 2 out of 3 of the only good things other then Dav Patel and Shaun Toub as Zuko and Iroh they at least put a lot of effort into their roles that are the only ones that are close to true to the original characters. I wonder why you have seen show it is a masterpiece compared to this disasterpiece by M. Night Shyamalan who ironically made some really good movies (Sixth Sense being his best and lady in the water ruined his carrier). This is disgrace to Shymalan and the show. I never thought I would witness a movie this bad or even worse than, Uggggggghhhhh! Batman and Robin!!! I know people already ranted at the name mispronunciations/changes,Direction,dialogue,rushed adapted plot and characters barley seen or mentioned. But I won't go into that territory since other people covered it in many rants. So any way please respond That Fellow if you can tell me why you have still not seen the show. Heck,I manged t re-watch the show Netflix but i don't know if you have an account. So Anyway please respond to answer my question.

Comment: Some cartoons that i think would make good live-action movie adaptations, or at least wouldn't be surprised if they did, are Johnny Bravo, Ren & Stimpy, Teen Titans, and Total Drama Island. They once had plans for a Johnny Bravo live-action movie starring The Rock.

Comment: People, the only differences between the Speed Racer movie and the show is that the movie has more depth to its characters and the characters aren't talking super-fast every second. Other than that, they got everything right. Yeah, the plot itself has about as much depth as wood, but so did every episode of the show. They included everything from the show, even Dad Racer's backstory, which was something even I didn't think they would keep in. How can anyone claim Speed Racer wasn't true to its source?

Comment: Good sum up. I think you and I would find ourselves at odds about some of these adaptations, but the point is is still valid. Why is it so hard to make an honest cartoon movie adaptation? Seriously, they better hold off on a "Calvin and Hobbes" movie if I'm not involved in it. By the way, thanks for highlighting the Speed Racer movie. I too felt like that was somewhat underrated.

Comment: I'm also curious as to why your not a fan of Dragon Ball. I don't meant to sound judgmental but do you just have some preconception of anime based on Pokemon? Dragon Ball is the only anime I've seen that hasn't been ruined by English dubs or wasn't silly to begin with.

Comment: I actually enjoyed the direct-to-video Casper movies. Despite the strange casting, there was a certain charm that both had. Casper Meets Wendy is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, since the story was entertaining, although predictable. While I have never seen the original Thunderbirds, the movie was okay for what it was, and didn't really deserve the bashing you gave it. The set was decent, the modern-day update given to the Thunderbirds and other machines were nice, the story wasn't all that bad, and they managed to stay with the plot and maintain character development. The issue you had about the Tracys being in T5 most of the movie isn't that bad either. Why shouldn't the Tracy's be saved by the youngest son? What makes that such a bad thing?

Comment: A live action movie/CGI hybrid I would like to see baised on a Cartoon is Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers but only if the only human that interacts with them is Dr. Nimnul (Paul Ginimani maybe) I'm sorry but I hated Speed Racer the plot was predictible and the CGI tracks made it look more like Hot Wheels the movie than a Speed Racer cartoon which used tracks inpired by Nascar or Grandpre, but the worst in my mind (maybe because I didn't pay money for Alvin & the Chipmunks or Speed Racer, ) was Last Airbender and GI Joe in a close 2nd

Comment: You say you are not a fan of Dragon Ball, now my question is? have you watched the beginning of the series or have you seen random episodes you caught on tv? If its the latter, i highly suggest you watch from the beginning, when I first watched an episode of the cartoon I absolutely HATED IT, but then I began to watch it from the first episode and I immediately became a fan, even the episode I have hated before I liked after I saw it within the context of the series. The first time I saw that episode I was like "oh my god this is so boring" and the other time I was like "GO GOKU GO!". I'm not sayin you WILL like the series if you try watching it from the beginning, specially because I think you have already, but if you haven't, I'd say give it a try, watch the first three or four episodes of DragonBall and see what you think PS: Sorry bad english PPS: WATCH AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER! I COMMAND YOU (kidding, but seriously)

Comment: You know what you said, about the Thunderbirds, absolutely EVERYTHING you said about that movie applies to Dragonball Evolution and Last Airbender. Those movies have NO respect to the series and are absolutely loathed by the fans because of its lack of respect to the original cartoons, Dragon ball Z and Avatar were huge parts of my childhood and it was utterly destroyd by that, to quote you, disgusting, putrid pile of dungbeetles. I spent the rest of 2009 and 2010 angry because of those movies and I STILL AM! ps: is it me or does the music on the Thunderbirds trailer is a rip-off of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme?

Comment: I think, the biggest problem with the worst of these adaptations is that they have no respect for the original source material, the worst examples are Last Airbender and Dragonball Evolution, watching those two films made me wonder if the filmmakers actually watched the series because it had absolute no respect for the original's series mythology, characters ans stories. Other problem is that they try to hip up some of the cartoons like making the chipmunks rap, not to mention tired, cliched stories. PS: You don't like He-Man? :(, sad, I like it.

Comment: Scooby Doo is a major guilty pleasure for me. I love it. I thought the same about Alvin and the Chipmunks, but after rewatiching it, I want the bury it in the ground and spit on it. Speed Racer was pretty cool, and from the bits and pieces I've seen of Garfield, I want to see a lot more. You know, you haven't mentioned the upcoming live-action cartoons. Marvin the Martian, Peabody and Sherman, Bakugan, and a new Popeye. And this next one I read from an invaliid source, but there might also be a live-action Spongebob Squarepants! GAAAAAHHH.

Comment: Chipmunks wasn't that annoying the first time I saw it, but it wasn't that great either. But then, I started seeing them EVERYWHERE! We watched it at school, they played at WalMart, the girl I babysat made me watch it SEVERAL FREAKIN TIMES! By the twentieth time through, I was ready to choke those rats! That and there's only one good song, Jason Lee looks miserable, and I hate that they made David Cross the unfunny talent agent (You can't turn Minion into a sleezeball music producer, you just can't!) While the sequel was better, I probably won't see the third one unless I'm really bored. Although, one movie I wouldn't mind them making is a live action version of Animaniacs, but only on three conditions: 1) They make it Roger Rabbit style 2) They get the original voice cast, since I'm pretty sure they're all still alive and 3) Keep it original to the source material. In other words, don't make Yakko and Wakko rappers, don't make Dot a Hannah Monterrible wannabee, don't have a lot of gross out gags, and don't freaking screw it up! If done well (and I mean really well) it could work in my opinion.

Comment: Sorry, but I disagree on a couple of things. I found "Inspector Gadget" to be a major let down, having been a long time fan of the cartoon. They totally fucked up Dr. Claw by showing his face, turning him into a James Bond-esque villain, and actually giving him a claw. Matthew Broderick was also kind of dull, for two reasons: 1.) He has know emotions 2.) He acted too intelligent. In the cartoon, Gadget was a bumbling idiot. Check out Cartoon Hero's review for more information. I also disagree with you on "George of the Jungle". I find it to be very funny and enjoyable, and also very faithful to the source material. Brendan Fraser was perfect as George, but not so much as Dudley Do-Right. One thing I do agree with highly is the poor casting of Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble. According to IMDB, she only got the part because she could do the laugh. Ugh!!!

But regardless of my little rant there, I actually like the Transformer movies, even if they were stupid, and I also liked the TMNT CGI, although that's not totally related to this subject matter. But I above all hate cartoon adaptations. They're uncreative, unoriginal, uninspiring, uncalled for, and just plain unentertaining!
