Comment: @Idazmi Emm, just a point on the video game tie in's. Sonic X didn't just reference them. Sonic X from Ep 27 onward (I think) began a full adaptation of both Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, followed by an adaptation of Sonic Battle, and then the 2nd series (or 3rd if your want to go the US route) while was supposed to be an original story, 50%-80% of it was Sonic Heroes re-written with nasty alien robots, monsters, and Space instead of Neo Metal Sonic and the rest of that crappy game!

Comment: You sir, are a complete idiot! "Nintendo bought Sega" and "Nintendo released Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games"... What planet was your head in when you came up with that? Seriously? Do your research before you ever bother opening your mouth. Sega was taken over by the largest shareholder Sammy back in 2003, and although they still operate as Sega, the company is now registered in japan as Sega Sammy. Sonic Team at Sega developed Mario and Sonic, with Miyamoto visiting and helping supervise the Mario franchise aspects of the game, and was published by Sega for the Nintendo Wii and DS.
On top of this, Fox Kids is abysmal at english dubs of anything, with exception to Ninja Turtles and Pokemon. To say this was better done then Pokemon sows you havn't done much research into this video. You want to see how it really stacks up, go watch the whole english crap dub which has outraged alot of fans over the years, then go watch the original Japanese version to see why they hate Fox Kid's dub so badly.
Seriously, this whole video is a complete embaressment. You may want to find an original name as well rather than trying to rip off That Guy With the Glasses!

Comment: Okay, in response to my earlier comment, I watched the Sonic cartoons again revently, and I've changed my mind on some things. "AoStH" was actually even worse than I remebered, and so is "Sonic Underground". Also, hearing them again, the songs on "SU" sucked, and were incredibly cheesy. The main reason I used to like them is because (despite being very cheesy) they are catchy and (some of them) will never leave your head. "Sonic X" is still very sub-par, and "SatAM" is still great.

Comment: I'm a pretty big fan of the classic Genesis Sonic games, but pretty much right after that the game series went downhill. As for Sonic's cartoons:
"Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" - Ehh... it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that great. It was a little too much of a Wile E. Coyote / Road Runner rip-off, and most of it wasn't that fuuny. It was just a "meh" show; "Sonic the Hedgehog" (SatAM) - One word to describe this show "AMAZING!". I don't understand why some of the hard-core Segasonic fans always try to bash this show for being too unlike the games. For it's time it was as close as you could get. There was only 2 Sonic games at the time and they didn't have a very big story. SatAM used what little story they had and just made it bigger, more complex, and much more interesting. "SatAM" is one of the greatest cartoons ever. It had superb voice acting, great animation, likeable and endearing characters, a dark, complex, interesting story-line, and excellent writing. And I'm glad to see you like it too; "Sonic Underground" - Like AOSTH, just "meh". I sorta liked their songs, but I don't get why Sonic would be singing songs like that. Also I didn't like this version of Knuckles, it was WAAAAYYY too unlike the games, like you said some of the writing was childish and cheesy, and some characters like Sonia, The Oracle of Delphius, and Bartleby (the Antoine rip-off) were extremely annoying; "Sonic X" - I disagree with you here. I think Jason Griffith was a terrible Sonic voice and made him sound too nasal, emotionless, and bored. Also the writing was flat, Chris was terribly annoying and way too obsessed with Sonic, and I found many other characters annoying too (Bokkun, Decoe, Bocoe, and Eggman). And I'm with you on the whole "Eggman" name. I always thought it makes him sound like a superhero who is in the shape of an egg, but your statement about a guy who works in the supermarket is better.; Good profile. But I think you should've turned the volume down on the Sonic the Hedgehog video game clip, and trust me if you watch more of "Sonic X" you'd see how horrible it really is. Good work though.

Comment: @Sonic Underground Sonic X is an anime afterall it's made by TMS entertainment. The 4Kids censored English dub sux, first season is one thing it loosely follows Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Sonic and Knuckles, the only difference is dialogue changes and unneeded edits. Season 2 however got went downhill, the people at 4Kids made the worst edits in terms of story and characters. The season is based on Sonic Adventure 1,2 and Sonic Battle. Fans of the games were outraged by the changes. Season 3 which is considered the darkest got worse including an episode wherer the editted a scene where Molly a character made for the anime actully dies on screen. Unless you watched the sub you'll be wrapping you head in confusion.

Comment: No offense, Fellow, but in the future, please don't have such loud video game music playing over the first three minutes of you videos. It's annoying and makes it hard to hear what you're saying, and I want to hear what you're saying because I usually really like your videos.

Comment: Sonic is a video game character made and owned by SEGA. That is who he is, and what I see him as. He's neither a classic cartoon character nor pop-culture icon so why the heck do people label Sonic as one of those things when the truth is that he's a video game character and that Sonic is a video game franchise? Sure, argue how much that Sonic appeared in a cartoon, but the same goes with many other video game characters who appeared in animated TV shows, films and such. I may be sorry but I'm sick of this doggone opinion of people who think that SatAM is superior to the games (I have nothing against SatAM, don't get me wrong, but it can be overrated at times and it also has the worst designs, voice-casting and *gasp* fanbase out of any of the Sonic shows).
I have nothing against Sonic of course. I love Sonic games, and I always did when the first game came out in 1991 on the SEGA Genesis. I just hate the huge fandom that the series spawned. It has become bad enough that the term 'Sonic fandom' is now a controversial subject nowadays and anyone who mentions that term will end up in a debate that will cause flame wars if talked too much. I play the games and no more. I do watch episodes of the Sonic shows and anime occasionally, but I do not treat the Sonic shows any better then I do with other 'video game' shows (i.e. The Mario cartoons, the Pokemon anime, and such). I think that Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie was the best out of the Sonic animated series, but that maybe just my little opinion.
If Disney ever gets the rights to Sonic (or even SEGA as a whole) then I will not be happy. I hope that will never happen in the future, and I will do what it takes to prevent that.

Comment: AOSTH was easily ignoring any sense of continuity to give them space for humor. It didn't fail to deliver what it advertised, so I don't have a problem with it (I found it much less interesting than other comedy shows, like Animaniacs, though.)
Sat/Am was the first *real* continuity to Sonic, aside from the Sonic "Bible". It also holds to it's continuity the best. Please, do not reply with an "OMG I HATE ???" post.(the episodes "Heads or Tails", "Fed up with Antoine/Ghost busted" and "The Odd Couple/Ro-Becca" do NOT represent the series. Don't ask how, just watch ANY other episode first. Any at all. THEN, watch them.)
Sonic Underground took a good premise, backstory and situation and infused the inherently dark story (darker than Sat/Am) with laser shooting *musical instruments*. Ecch. The *STORYLINE* is okay *IF* you can survive characters that behave completely out of tone with their own show and 90's rock inserted at the halfpoint and/or fanale of each episode.
Sonic X is an interesting "escape" series with little going for it besides SFX, humor and the occasional storyline bit. (I'm talking about the JAPANESE version)Good for those who don't want to think too hard on a cartoon, or who have burned themselves out with more serious television, such as I occasionally do. (VERY many elements of this show were *borrowed* from Sat/Am. check "Project Doomsday" of Sat/Am, and compare to Sonic X's pilot. Chaos control was taken from *SOME* of the original power ring sfx. O_O)
As for similarity to games:
AOSTH: None. Only Sonic 1 and 2 were even made yet. comparing AOSTH to those two is virtually impossible.
Sat/Am: Surprisingly many. again, only Sonic 1 and 2 were out. (Tails became a genious in 3. He was just Sonic's friend prior to that.) They use Power Rings, Power Stones (Chaos Emeralds. Same difference) Spindash, All the characters are based on freed animals fron Sonic 1, Tails mere existence, Scrap Brain Zone from Sonic 1 etc...)
Sonic Underground: 2. Knuckles, and ONE bonafide Chaos Emerald.
Sonic X: Practically the whole show is a reference to Sonic Adventure and onward.
Plenty of early game refrences, but all THOSE were first seen in Sat/Am. *cough* PLAGARISTS! *COUGH*

Comment: Here are my opinions:
AOSTH: You love it or hate it, it had the fun loving appeal that made the Super Mario cartoon good which is why I like it, but unfortunately it is the one that aged the worst. If there is one thing I know about gamers, they take the franchises seriously and unfortunately it doesn't pass off well to newer Sonic fans.
SatAM: If this is what ABC wanted, it's what ABC should have been deprived of because DIC should have made this the weekday show instead. There was so much more you could have done with the story with a weekday time slot and there was a good balance between having fun loving moments and the action moments.
Underground: Produced as if the 1970's taught us nothing, once again it's proven that it's never a good idea to make established characters sing pop music. In the long run, it's irrelevant to their true image and those who work on the franchise in the future will have to work harder to keep the character from being dated.
Sonic X: Never watched much of it, but I think it's the most interesting. It focuses on familiar characters and yes, I prefer the name Robotnik over Eggman too. But Sonic made a good transition to anime.

Comment: I don't play video games, so I'm not really familiar with Sonic's VG appearances. The Sonic Sat AM TV series was the best out of the animated shows in my opinion, because it had several of my favorite voice actors in it (notably Jim Cummings, Rob Paulsen, Charlie Adler and Kath Soucie) and is the darkest and most complex of the shows. Too bad it ended on a cliff hanger. Is it just me, but does Robotnik's voice in Sonic Underground sound like Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

Comment: In all honesty, I thought the english dub was god awful. It censored, edited and changed so many unnecessary things and the voices are pretty stupid and don't match the characters at all in my opinion.
Because I'm a rabid anime fan,so Sonic X was by far my favorite, but SatAm was amazing as well. I also liked The adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, but I hated Underground.

Comment: Mistake: It's supposed to say "Sega and Sonic Team are involved in making the anime including story and character development. Fans were outragged by the 4Kids censoring and redub. They were the first to know what went wrong."
Th 4Kids dub is 100% terrible 10x worse than the Pokemon English dub. The jokes are bad, the episodes are badly written and they ignored the continuity of the story arcs based on the games.
Stop bragging on what an echidna looks like. It's Japanese animation, it doesn't have to make sense, especially anime itself.
They called him Eggman since Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast.

Comment: I prefer the Japanese version of Sonic X (MOst fans do) mostly because it stayed true to the games due to the fact that Sega and Sonic Team are involved in making the anime including Fans were outragged by the 4Kids censoring and redub. They were the first to know what went character and story development.
wrong.
Ryan Drummond the person who voiced Sonic in the games, was originally going to be the voice for Sonic. He said no cause he didn't want to move to New York.

Comment: AOSTH & Sonic X(Original Japanese version)are my favourites. 4Kids really fucked up SX for its unholy censoring and its abusive use of editing(season 3 the worse one they ever did).
Sega and Sonic Team are involved in making Sonic X which is a huge advantage.
Sonic Underground is the worst by far. Not just for its songs, but also for its development, premise and the writing.
