Comment: i just saw the movie and... it was better than what most people said it was. true, it's not better than the first, but it wasn't bad at all. i thought the part where mator saw himself as others do was... kind of heart braking at the least because that's how most people feel when they go to a new place, i know i do sometimes. so, is it bad, no. i think it was a good film, and i can't wait to see that planes movie, it looks good enough

Comment: @ Ben jombunud: Actually, "newt" was canceled due to similarities in plot to 20th Century fox/Blue Sky Studios' "Rio". "Planes" will be a direct-to-video release by another studio sometime in spring 2013.

Comment: Dude, Cars 2 may not have been a great film, but don't treat it like it's the death of Pixar. So Pixar screwed up. Everybody screws up. But we learn from these mistakes. And knowing Pixar, I'm sure they will learn from the reviews that were given to Cars and go back to making the masterpieces we all love before. Besides, did animation die when Walt Disney die himself back in 1966? Hell no. It kept going until Disney came back in the 90s and inspired more companies to make animated movies. This is no different. Nobody's perfect dude.

Comment: Just hear me out, OK? I thought Cars 2 was amazing. The animation was spectacular, the story was complex (even for Pixar standards) and the action scenes were well-choreographed. wouldn't say the spy subplot was ripping off James Bond as much as it was an homage to it. I think many people say it's terrible because it's full of fast-paced action and explosions and stuff. But that's why I liked it so much. It's not as good as Toy Story 3, but it's way better than the first Cars movie. So what if everyone else says this movie sucked? I really liked it!

Comment: While I agree that Cars 2 wasn't as good a film as the original Cars or several of Pixar's best movies, I still loved it and would say it was way better than A Bug's Life, which to this day is my least favorite Pixar movie. I absolutely LOVE Mater and think he deserved his own movie. Nice review, Hewy!

Comment: Now see here Mr. Toonmore, While Cars 2 may not be a perfect film of the PIXAR bunch, you should at least give John Lasseter a break as it is really difficult for him to have to make this sequel without the help of his friend and longtime collaborator Joe Ranft, who died in a car accident in 2005. Joe Ranft was John's right hand man in charge of PIXAR's story department supervising over the stories of some their early successes ranging from "Toy Story" to "Cars". He was a great voice actor providing voice work for characters like Heimlich the Caterpillar in "A Bug's Life", Wheezy the Penguin in "Toy Story 2", and Jacques the Shrimp in "Finding Nemo". He is also responsible for some of Disney's earlier successes with films like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Beauty and the Beast", and "The Lion King". This man was such a creative influence among many other talented people in animation. There was just this hilarious, fun, heart-warming, playful, care-giving and respectable quality that Joe gave to animated cinema that will be terribly missed. If Joe Ranft were still alive, he would have done both "Toy Story 3" and "Cars 2" completely different! Here is an article on John Lasseter looking back at Joe Ranft for the release of "Cars 2"http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/pixar-head-john-lasseter-remembers-good-pal-late-great-joe-ranft

Comment: I hope you do a review on the 2011 Winnie the Pooh film. It's an official sequel to the 1970 film "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh," but I promise that you won't be disappointed by it. At least the characters in the film stay true to themselves, unlike what some people are doiing to others *looks at the director of "The Smurfs" film*

Comment: When Pixar announced a sequel their weakest film, you think it will give them a chance to examine the errors and attempt to solve them. This feels like an extension of a Mater short and the spy elements used executed rather poorly. On Rotten Tomatoes it got a rating of 38% which broke their "Certified Fresh" streak since the first Toy Story and the first one got 74%. I now know it wont win Best Animated Feature at next year's Oscars which will make it their third loss. Monster Inc lost to Shrek and the first Cars lost to Happy Feet (which is also getting a sequel). George Carlin the voice of Filmore died of a Heart Failure in 2008; Paul Newman voice of Doc Hudson died in the same year (after he retired) from lung cancer (he used to be a smoker in his early years) and Joe Ranft who voiced Red died in a car crash before it was released in theatres.

Comment: I remember seeing Emily Mortimer in Young Adam she's good in it, Cars 2 to me personally is a bit of a step down in her career. Everytime I hear Michael Caine speak I keep expecting him to turn into Harry Palmer.

Comment: The plot is like a cross between the World is Not Enough and North By Northwest. BTW the Pink Panther remake is garbage and inferior to the original Blake Edwards classic.

Comment: Nice review. I really enjoyed the big spaz out from the Brave Trailer. But I was just wondering, will you be reviewing the new Winnie the Pooh movie? It had the misfortune of coming out the same day as Harry Potter, and lost out to Cars 2 in its opening day.

Comment: Hey, Hewy, I've watched this review of yours just today and I kind liked this one. Well, sort of. I was afraid you would break down from this movie. It is a shock, isn't it? Well I have seen Cars 2 in theaters a while ago. Now for the first Cars, I've seen it in theaters back in the summer of 2006 and I thought it was a good movie; actually, it was the only movie I've seen in theaters in 2006. It may have some problems, but it was a road trip experience and it had a lot of good moments. It was fine. May not be stronger than other PIXAR films, but it was still decent. However, I was having my own personal problems at the time, but I care not to mention them here. Cars was fun. As for Cars 2, well, it was fine. Yeah it, too has some problems. At least the action scenes, violent images and humor keep this movie going and keeping the audience's attention. I still enjoyed it. The characters in both movies were enjoyable in my opinion, especially Mater and Lightning McQueen. And by now, I am familiar with the James Bond series, which is probably one of the problems with this movie. But I think I can guess that the only major problem with Cars is relying too much on the merchandising. There is one franchise that I liked as a kid with the same kind of merchandise: Thomas The Tank Engine and friends. I now know what is going on with these franchises. Well, at least you tried to be positive in this review. It was okay. Oh, and I am looking forward to the next PIXAR movie as well as what you are going to review next.

Comment: @Devon Well, he said he kinda liked MNM, despite the fact that Zemeckis's studio was already doomed after the failure of Christmas Carol. With Cars 2, it's different. Pixar, the studio that gave us creative and entertaining films with great storylines and characters. Until Cars came along, which barely had anything worthwhile. And with Cars 2 out now, and how it barely looks presentable with it's unoriginal story and forgetable moments... it's pretty obvious that you're going to lose the attention of some filmgoers, with the exception of the younger viewers, of course.

Comment: My friend said that if you see this film expecting to get what you got out of other Pixar films then you won't enjoy it but if you see it expecting what you got from the first Cars film and if you enjoyed the first Cars film then you'll enjoy it. People are flaming it because they were expecting it to be a great Pixar masterpiece they shoulda done it the other way then it woulda gotten some good reviews.

Comment: So, Cars 2 can be considered a bad movie for its stupid story. However, I say that Pixar did the action, humor, and visuals rightX6, and that barely picks it up from the rut of being a bad movie to being a stupid and weak movie. I don't say it was disappointing much because if you saw the trailer; what did you expect? Compared to other films (ESPECIALLY the expectation of movie sequals), it's not that bad. Though, compared to the standard of Pixar, it's a black sheep of Pixar's high expectations of sequals and a really bad flop of Pixar's normal standards. Although, I will give the movie this. If the merchandising of the movie was good enough for starting the production of Wall-e and Incredibles, then I wouldn't try too hard to stop production of a Cars 3 (or mabey just a seperate line of unique car toys). P.S. Doesn't the horse from the Brave trailer remind you of the horse from Mulan?

Comment: Considering the first Cars, and the merchandise, was more popular amongst young boys, as long as the sequel is popular amongst those same boys, than it's doing it's job. I didn't like the movie either, but it wasn't awful---just cliche and predictable. I don't think anyone was expecting it to be as good as Toy Story 3, so it's not like a huge punch in the gut. Also, I think Brave looks fine. It might not be an instant classic with Pixar, but I'm pretty sure it'll be better than Cars and Cars 2.

Comment: Hello. New person making a entry. Anyway I think Cars 2 was a misstep as well but I can understand why it was released. When Up came out Pixar lost a whole bunch of money because well Up didn't have any tie-ins for kids. I saw one commercial with a insurance company but that was it (from what I saw). I can excuse Pixar only because it needs to make money and when Pixar gets the funding then they can make great films. Personally I blame Disney for their sequelitis syndrome. They are releasing the Lion King in theaters in 3d in September! How sad. Pixar is saving your sorry excuse for a company Disney! Anyway good review and sorry that this comment is long.
