Comment: I recently saw this film and I must say, it was certainly better than I thought it would be. Not a great film, but still enjoyable. My favorite bit is at the beginning where the gnome points out how many times the story has been told and makes fun of how it always starts with the same backstory. I also feel Cinema Snob was way too hard on this. He says the frog is a representation of blackface just because she has big lips. I never once got a blackface impression from her, so I don't see it. I also think he missed the point of Tibalt coming back to life at the end. He failed to realize that this was supposed to be a reference to how at the end of plays, all of the actors, including the ones whose characters are dead, always come together to give a final bow to the audience. It was making fun of that and he acted as if that scene was canon to the story, which it wasn't. I do agree with him on the whole "how do the humans not notice" thing. Yeah, Toy Story did that much more believably.

Comment: You should of used "Romeo" by Basement Jaxx or "Lovefool" by The Cardigans which is used in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet (and my favourite adaptation of the play) at the end credits.
And another thing I should mention is that the most adapted Shakespeare play is Hamlet which earned a Guinness World Record.

Comment: Oh yes, I liked this movie. And I enjoyed your review of it. Also, I liked the new opening. It's really great. For the movie, it was okay. Not great, but okay. I liked the characters in this movie, and I like this version of the Romeo and Juliet story. It was fair. And I did learn my lesson about characters in "Man-kinis" thanks to you. I like Elton John's songs in this movie, and the parts by Lady Gaga wasn't terrible. Also, did anyone realised that this movie came out on the same day as something horrid? Oh well, any, Gnomeo and Juliet, fair movie, and enjoyable to watch. And I am wondering about the mysterious stranger/being at the end of your review?

Comment: For those who are wondering about that part in 4:22-4:28, Yes Virginia, there is an animated version of Romeo and Juliet with seals. All the animation for it was done by just ONE man.

Comment: LOVE THE NEW OPENING!!! FREAKING AWESOME!!!
Jim Cummings is the man!!!
Elton John ROCKS... literally... but I still don't know if I wanna see this movie or not... I'm still sad about the fate of "The Road to El Dorado" as that movie has some really great music, and it could have been a fantastic movie, as opposed to just a good one, if they hadn't come on WAY too strong with the fantasy elements near the end... sorry... that giant evil jaguar thing was weak... would much rather have seen more of a problem w/Cortez...
The other animated adaptation of Romeo and Juliet that jumps to mind here is "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" ... it's not a fantastic movie, but it's got some good music, and it holds up well as a sequel to what I think is probably still my FAVORITE animated movie of all time

Comment: I can't blame you for hating the adaptation of Romeo and Juliet done with seals. The animation was very low budget (it was all done by only one guy), the characters are annoying (especially the ugly prince elephant seal and the fish), and what's distrubing is that the voices of Romeo and Juliet seal are actually siblings!?!
P.S. I think you should've mentioned about "The Lion King 2" (that's also an adaptation to Romeo and Juliet that some fans like).

Comment: This has gotta be one of the WIERDEST ideas for an animated movie I've ever heard of! To make it evenmore surreal, they cast people like James McAvoy Emily Blunt, Jim Cummings, Patrick Stewart and Ozzy Osbourne! What is set for Hewy's next review anyway? Rango? I hope so! Nice ending, too!

Comment: @Jacob: Sorry, my mind blanked over the question. I did this as a favor for Hewy, but I will write theme songs for other folks under the right conditions. To sum it up, I need to start getting paid. In any case, glad you liked the music. @Annie: Thanks again! You should check out my episode "Shout to the Music." You'll see some more of my music work there. And don't forget Matt Koh, the guy who pulled off that awesome animation.

Comment: Love the song Jaimetud! I love it when Internet celebrities have their own songs and not simply take popular songs that they like. Not that there's anything wrong with that but man what a great song! Will you make theme songs for the other guys on this site? Plus the opening was phenomonial. P.S- Great to see you back after 2 months Hewy!

Comment: Yay, new season! I like your new opening! And I too really liked this movie, though I agree the original story was told best in West Side Story.
