Comment: Were you asleep during the original or something because mice had currency? Infact that was the villain's main motive. While it may be a needless sequel, I think the film wanted to tell it's story and I have to respect that....it wasn't perfect and a tad uneven but it was a well made film that had very nice animation, a good cast of characters and above all was entertaining....It's clear that effort was put into the production and definitely deserves more credit then just being a cheap cash-in.

Comment: At least I liked the film when I was little. The part with Tiger getting chased by all those dogs was the FUNNIEST part of the movie. Did you know that this was done by a short-lived animation division of Universal and Amblin called Amblimation? They also made two other movies, "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story" (which the NC called a "Big Lipped Alligator Movie") and "Balto". They were even planning to do an animated movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats" at one point, but that was never made. Sad, ain't it?

Comment: again, you don't do a good job researching. if you did, you'd know that a lot of people prefer this sequel.

Comment: I disagree with you on that. I saw this before I saw the original movie, and it's still one of my favorites. And it's better then the 3rd and 4th movie. And I still laugh at all of the trainning sequences of Wylie teaching Tiger how to act like a dog.

Comment: @Anithusiast- You basicly sum up my feelings about this. To tell the truth, I saw this movie so many times before I even saw the original. At least this is better than the other crappy sequels, right?

Comment: By the way, can The Radical Reviewer make a review of "The Land Before Time"-sequels?! "The Land Before Time" (from 1988) is one of my biggest favorite movies of my childhood! The sequels destoryed the charm about the first film and it also have been forgotten.

Comment: This was one of the first sequels I saw! I must say, it was a very boring movie. Only some parts with Tiger was fun, othervise, the rest was bad! Poor Don Bluth, almost all of his best films has camed up with sequels and TV-series! I HATE IT!

Comment: @Radical Reviewer Thanks for taking the time to respond. I’m glad I didn’t offend you; I was trying not to sound like some kind of crazy internet troll. Some of the jokes in the review were pretty funny, if you had cut the movie some slack it would have been fine. You have a good sense of showmanship.

Don't worry for disagreeing with me. When this video first aired I got my ass handed to me by others too. This review is far from being my best and looking back at it now - yeah, I was too harsh on the movie. As a stand alone movie on it's own - it's not even half bad, but as An American Tail sequel - it lacked the charm of the original to me. But don't worry - I understood my mistake and sort of apologised in my next episode.
@Golden Fox - Constructive Criticism much?

Comment: I don’t think An American Tail 2 counts as a shameful sequel. A lot of hard work and effort went into making this movie and it shows in the great animation and good music. I know it’s not as classic as the original movie but it’s nowhere near as bad as most straight to video sequels. Why didn’t you pick one of those to insult instead of something that has a fan base? Ferngully 2 and Tom Sawyer are almost universally considered to be bad and Quest for Camelot has a lot wrong with it but this movie doesn’t deserve this level of hate.
I’m sorry to be so up in arms over something that is just you’re opinion but I guess I expect better judgment from people who put videos on thatfellowinthecoat.com rather than thatguywiththeglasses.com.
