Comment: There's something here I'm not proud of. According to Wikipedia, Eddie Carrol (YES! The voice of Jiminy Cricket!!!) does a scene for this movie or some other film! :( Damn! I really respect Eddie Carrol and he goes and does Barney?! Jiminy wouldn't be proud of this movie! I ppity the people who did this movie!!!!

Comment: This movie screams fail all over the place. I, don't know why the people love this awful film, it just doesn't make any sense. The music is awful, the plot is terrible and the acting is beyond anything thought possible. I hate to say it but, this movie makes the #1 horible episode of the 'Twilight Zone' ('The Bewitchi' Pool) look better in sheer contrast to the horror and uncontrollable butt hurt that is 'Barney's Great Adventure'. My god, whose bright idea was it to put the purple monster on the big screen. And who casted the children, they were awful and it seems as though the film tried to entertain, but instead, it backfires and screws up beyond belief. I give this movie out of ten stars with ten being good and one being bad: I give this disaster a negative one million for beyond bad, just something that should never see the light of day again.

Comment: I know this is gonna shock you all but... ...Roger Ebert (THE Roger Ebert) actaully gave this movie a marginal "Thumbs Up" (Three stars out of four), saying, "If you like him on TV, you'll like him here too." Just go ahead and complain. I don't care.

Comment: I always felt really sorry for the kids on the Barney show, and even more sorry for the dopes in the costumes... This is one of those things that makes you wonder: 1. WHO WOULD GREENLIGHT THIS?! 2. Why do so many people who make children's products think children are all extremely stupid? HOORAY FOR BENNY HILL! I agree... Barney in the shower is TERRIFYING!!! Police Cop?! Redudant much? Oh well... this whole movie is just a string of one big lipped alligator moment after another... B/C when you see the purple dinosaur in the white tux you know you're way passed stoned... I love how they're actually taking pains to ELIMINATE ALL POSSIBLE CONFLICT... Sorry, but your criticism about the egg is unfounded... it flew through space and it was FINE!!! What makes you think that thing is fragile?! IT'S NOT A NORMAL EGG!!! It's the lost experiment that reeks havoc by spawning an awful movie!!! The only other movie I can think of that is this bad is the 1991 Scifi Beowulf movie...

Comment: Fun Fact: Did you know that Trey Park, a major force in "South Park" was asked to direct this? He turned it down, of course. That's like if Seth MacFarlane were asked to direct a TeleTubbies movie! Doesn't it?

Comment: Who would have thought that Trevor Morgan would later go on to star in "Jurassic Park 3"? I liked him in that, but here, he's just not that charming. Plus, when I was a very little boy, I FREAKIN' LOVED BARNEY!!!! I watched the videos, I sang the songs, and even went to a Barney concert! He was one of my first childhood icons, as well as Thomas the Tank Engine. I don't care if you other commentors think I'm crazy! I couldn't make fun of it even if I was forced to!

Comment: This film was truely terrible. There are actually other Barney specials that DID have conflict and other elements needed in this film. Imagination Island and The Land of Make Believe are two excellent examples. Advice to everyone with kids; get the normal DVDs for your kids instead of this. Great job with the review.

Comment: Wow, this was almost as good as if the Critic did it. Also, here are my thoughts on a couple of scenes: "Milking chickens"- This is the moment where it's obvious the writers think children are complete morons. Also, in that bit where Barney's hugging the girl during that stupid song number, did anyone else notice the nervous/scared look she had on her face? Honestly, I can't blame her.

Comment: To David: I respect your opinons as well too...besides, Superbabies - Baby Geniuses 2 is the worst kids movie compared to this....that and Cat in the Hat, but Superbabies is more badder then a Suess character gone perverted. Poor Mike. -_-

Comment: To That Fellow and Morgan When I wrote that I totally forgot that you did DVD talk too (I can forget sometimes). I grew up with , what I think, are the big three ,in my opinion, top children shows. Those are Thomas the tank engine, Sesame Street, and Barney and I like them in that order (Though Thomas just barely wins). I agree with you guys and I woouldn't show this to my kid if I had Follow that bird around. Do I think this is a bad movie? Yes. The worst kids movie? No. I believe that the intentions and idea seemed good on paper but then again I am not a huge fan of Barney but I have seen the happiness it brings kids. I agree with your points gentlemen and respect your words and works.

But I made a topic post on the forums for stuff like this...I feel that it's not working...I'll probably make a post about this on the site...video post. - To Chris: Garbage Pail Kids was done by Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) and if I was to do it, it wouldn't topple his review. It was so bloody epic. But, my mind is made up for the 50th, it's The Fantastic Four movie.

Comment: To chris - It's ok. I'm used to this. Fans and viewers alike are people too and must be treated like simple friends. Now, I was planning to do a review of the unreleased Fantastic Four movie, but damn Linkara and Sage beat me to the punch during Kick-Assia week. Thus, I plan to save that for either episode 50 or somewhere in season 3. I'll think about the banned episode you mentioned. I just need to find it. As I said, City of Ember is more for DVD Talk. Rabbit Ears I am thinking of doing as a review.

Comment: To chris: I will think about it. However, some sound like reviews more then Specials. But that pilot does sound interesting. - To Grant: If Gooby is as bad as you say, then hello 50th episode. Either that or the live action pilot of Teddy Ruxpin and yes that exsists. - To Joe: I never thought of that, but if you want to know one I hate so dear, Terminator Salvation. Although, I'm going to think hard about that one. It doesn't sound like a bad idea...but then again, NeverEnding Story 3 is a sequel I consider as the worst, but I will have to see if there is one I think that can surpass it. Doubt it, but I will think.

Comment: sorry i thought it was the other way around.(sense i liked the video) oh and p.s.in case your wondering what rabbit ears was it was a company in the 80s and 90s known for adaptaions of stories,folktales,e.t.c. using limited animation with a new narrator, illustartor and musican they disapeerd in 1997 but now they still make videos begining with tom thumb the elephants child is based on a just so story by the author of the jungle book(You Know How The Elephant Got It's Trunk Err.Nose)Maybe That Fellow In The Coat Should Look Back At Rabbit Ears And Put The Peanuts Stuff On Dvd Talk

Date And Time: 2010-06-13 20:26:49
Comment: To Chirs: The Archival Specials are more along the lines of short bits and material like episodes of animated series, deleted scenes, pilots, and generally stuff that is not out on DVD. Rabbit Ears The Elephants Child looks more like a review or a seperate upload. It just doesn't fit in with the tone and nature. I know it has yet to be on DVD, but it just doesn't feel like a canidate. The Charlie Brown Specials What A Nightmare Charlie Brown And It's Your First Kiss Charlie Brown are more like reviews considering how they are on DVD. City Of Ember I saw and I didn't like it. Besides, that is a feature film and not an unreleased. I mean something more along the lines of the alternate ending to Little Shop of Horrors and the Tales of Tinkerdee pilot. I incline for two specials per season so I don't overdo and that the enjoyment lasts longer. If there is one too many, then the viewers will feel too spoiled and there will be nothing left to work with or show. I appreciate your requests but at least they were given some thought.

Comment: To David: Sorry. I meant to say DVD Talk. Follow that Bird was reviewed on DVD Talk.

Name: Morgan
Date And Time: 2010-06-13 19:54:21
Comment: To David: I find Follow that Bird (Yes I did see and reviewed it on Vaulting) a more acceptable children's film compared to this because it has conflict and can be reached with all audiences. Barney's movie is just eye candy and internal conflict with the character Cody. However, there were moments (in the opening number) were he is pushed or something inconvientally happends to him. I didn't mention this for time, but basically Cody's older then her sister and wants to grow up, have sense and stuff like that. So the basic message is to be a kid at heart but still be an adult when needby. However, this message is garbled by an hour and eighteen minutes of chasing an egg that a Stitch-like alien and kid songs. The basic stucture is uneven and tends to just be nothing but pading and just stuff for the tykes. Follow that Bird had conflict and effect from running away from home and knowing that home is where the heart is. Personally, "Bird" is a movie I would rather show to my future son when needbe then a mindless plot that goes nowhere but trying to find something for filler with additional material that doesn't make sense. Seriously, would anyone attempt to make a mini-McD's in thier truck only to run into collision? Talk about moral values.

Comment: I see your points on somethings like how people don't really react to the giant purple dinosaur and etc. but people seem to forget that this was intended for a small child audience. While I feel that this is inferior to the sesame street films (did you ever watch "Follow that Bird"? its good) I think that you were a bit harsh and I'm saying that because I'm a fan or anything beause I'm not a really huge fan. I only liked it when I was a kid and only watch it when I need to. I feel that Cody didn't really grow as a character and that maybe an antagonist could have helped but that's it. I think that the story line was right for the film because it is easy to follow. All in all I think you did a good job presenting this movie despite little things I disagree with. That Fellow: I haven't seen Barney's Big Adventure, so I can't speak for Morgan, nor do I have an opinion on it. That said, I have seen Follow That Bird and I liked it. While children are the primary audience, there is enough of a good story and good humour to make it enjoyable for adults as well. It helps that Sesame Street is a genuinely great show. I hated Barney and found him annoying on his show, so I wouldn't like to spend ninety minutes with him. Big Bird, on the other hand? Absolutely. By the way, Morgan did a whole review of Follow That Bird for "DVD Talk." I highly recommend checking it out.

Comment: I still think Garbege Pail Kids is worse than this. I put but this between Troll in Central (sorry Hewy and Don Bluth) and Drop Dead Fred. That mostly because.. its barney for crying out loud even if I would hate him now for being annoying at least little kids like him. The only thing in the movie that is worse the Garbege Pail kids is the cast has noeffort unlike the shop kepper from you know what.
